Provides free advocacy and legal services for low-income children who are in need of special education or other disability based supports in school and students facing disciplinary issues at school. Help with IEP meetings, 504 meetings, due process requests with the Dept. of Education, youth not enrolled in school due to homelessness or because they are living with adults that are not their guardians. Kids Legal also provides free consultations to community professionals working with children on these issues.

Maine Eviction Prevention Program: 207-274-1240

If you rent your primary home in Maine and are behind in your rent or facing eviction, you may be eligible for assistance from the Maine Eviction Prevention Program. This program will cover past due rent and provide rental assistance going forward for as long as a year. To qualify you must meet certain requirements around income and monthly rent level.

Free legal advice to low-income families; civil cases only (no criminal cases).  Help with housing, renters rights, evictions, foreclosures, property tax issues, debt collection, SSI, SNAP Benefits, General Assistance, Mainecare, Credit Card Lawsuits in Small Claims and District Court, Creditor Harassment, Car purchase & Repair Issues, Car Repo Collections.
