Support for prenatal moms on medication-assisted recovery or who have a high-risk pregnancy, or moms with newborns that have medical complications. Program can provide home visiting nurses to work with families to help address their immediate needs and identify & facilitate on-going supports

For mom’s on medication-assisted recovery and have a child in the NICU.  With prior authorization from their local treatment provider, mom’s can receive courtesy doses during their stay in Bangor while their child receives medical treatment.  Located at 689 Odlin Road, Suite 1. 24/7 appointment scheduling.

If you are pregnant or a new parent with substance use disorder we’re here to help you. MaineMOM can help with:

  • Advocate for you and your baby.
  • Provide you with counseling, support, and treatment, including medications.
  • Work with you to develop a treatment plan and provide referrals for other services you might need during and after your pregnancy like health care, housing, or transportation.
  • Introduce you to other moms who have experienced what you are going through.
  • Provide safe and supportive care for you and your baby while you are in the hospital.
  • Answer your questions and make sure you are part of the team caring for your baby.
  • Provide care in a baby-friendly setting.
  • Work with you to develop a plan for birth control after your baby is born, if you would like.

PROSPER Initiative (Healthy Acadia): 974-7460

Navigation and support for expectant and new parents, caregivers, and families living with substance use disorder in Washington and Hancock counties, Maine. PROSPER responds to your needs as a pregnant person or new parent with Substance Use Disorder. You, your infant, and your support system (friends, partner, relatives) can count on compassionate, person-centered navigation, mentoring, education, training, care coordination, advocacy, referrals, and overall supports. We serve expectant and new parents (and their support systems) living in Hancock and Washington counties. We work to prevent stigmatization, discrimination, criminalization, and marginalization of women seeking treatment to benefit themselves and their infants. We walk with you through the experience of pregnancy and as a new parent to ensure that you feel supported and prepared for parenthood. Services include making a personal care plan, navigation support, parenting and life skills.

Nurse Home Visiting – Nurses can provide support to parents in their home if they have an infant with a medical condition or who has been exposed to substances prenatally.  This is a free service for residents of Maine, no insurance or Mainecare required

Ronald McDonald House: Bangor 207-942-9003

Affordable to no-cost lodging for families of children receiving treatment in the hospital.  The Ronald McDonald Houses provide many of the comforts of home, such as fully equipped kitchens, laundry facilities, recreation areas, private guest rooms and more.  (A referral from a medical social worker is required). Location is 654 State Street in Bangor.
